Company History

A greatly respected Hull businessman, the late Len Beck opened a menswear shop in Kingston upon Hull back in 1934.  Over the years, the extensive store has been modernised and extended. Yet, to this day, the company delivers the same high quality friendly service that was characteristic of the business from the outset. In stock, there is a fabulous range of quality menswear - at down to earth prices.

Through introducing a high-quality manufacturing capacity early in its development, the company quickly established the "Beks" name into a nationally known high quality clothing brand - sold in shops, major department stores and in exclusive catalogues throughout the UK. Locally, the company was - and remains  the only bespoke tailors in Kingston upon Hull.

In the early 1990's the company's own high-grade manufactured products and a range of other top-name brands were offered for sale by direct mail. Prices were up to 40% less than normal retail prices. Now projected into the electronic age, this experience has been carried forward into a global Internet market.

Throughout the firm's history, highly skilled staff have offered a clothing alteration service both to the public and the trade.

In recent years, the continuing family business has added corporate wear and wedding hire to its specialised portfolio which also embraces uniform supply and merchant navy specialisation.
